In addition, it is advisable that they open outwards.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ample space: <\/strong>It is essential that there is enough space for the wheelchair to maneuver without difficulty inside the bathroom. Also, the floor should be non-slip, to prevent falls.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Grab bars: <\/strong>The installation of grab bars on the walls facilitates the movement of wheelchair users. Despite the fact that there may be small variations due to different local regulations, in general terms, these are the minimum dimensions that must be complied with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>General space:<\/strong> The bathroom must have a minimum space of 1.5 m in diameter for the wheelchair to move around.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Doors:<\/strong> To facilitate access, they shall be a minimum of 90 cm wide.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Toilet:<\/strong> The seat will have to be at a distance of between 45 cm and 50 cm from the floor, and a free space of at least 75 cm must be left in front of the toilet.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sink:<\/strong> It must be installed between 80 cm and 85 cm from the floor, and there will have to be at least 70 cm of height at the bottom to allow access from a wheelchair.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Support bars: <\/strong>Must be installed on both sides of the toilet, at a height of between 80 cm and 85 cm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/simex.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Solucion-Alhambra-1-1024x724.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>When is it mandatory to have an adapted bathroom?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As indicated in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boe.es\/buscar\/act.php?id=BOE-A-2013-12632\">General Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and their Social Inclusion<\/a>, as well as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.codigotecnico.org\/\">Technical Building Code (CTE<\/a>), certain types of buildings and establishments must have a bathroom adapted for people with reduced mobility.
